Lethal League developer Team Reptile is tapping into the style and sound of Jet Set Radio with its next game, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, and it looks convincing in all the ways it needs to look. However, it was the end of the trailer that had the most important info. We got a new gameplay trailer for the game which once again showed off the stylish cel-shaded skating and spray paint tagging we’ll be doing to some cool new musical beats.

The update on Bomb Rush Cyberfunk’s release window was revealed when it kicked off the Nintendo Indie World presentation on August 11, 2021. Bomb Rush Cyberfunk was revealed as a timed exclusive on Nintendo Switch, but it was also given a 2022 launch window. Unfortunately, we’re going to be waiting a bit longer. This game is absolutely brimming with personality and style clearly inspired by the Sega classic and we were looking forward to playing it sometime this year. Bomb Rush Cyberfunk will launch sometime in 2022 for PC and home consoles.Ever since Team Reptile gave us our first look at its upcoming title, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, our hearts have soared with delight at the prospect of a proper spiritual successor to Jet Set Radio.
Now here’s where Bomb Rush Cyberfunk earns its spurs as a spiritual successor: the game is set to the musical brainwaves of Hideki Naganuma, composer of the Jet Set Radio and Jet Set Radio Future soundtracks. While we wait we can always look forward to Hideki Naganuma Twitter feed and just laugh/wonder what is going through his head today. It’s all there, right The chunky, funky visuals, the sliding and grinding, the graffiti tagging and, of course, the music. Hopefully, we’ll find out more throughout the year on the release date and which platforms it will launch on. No further information was given for this, but it will more than likely be the current/last generation of systems. Another major change is that Bomb Rush Cyberfunk will also no longer be exclusive to the PC platform, as the studio also stated that the game will “come to consoles as well.”
No official reason was given for this, but since there was never a concrete date/time frame to begin with it, technically, it doesn’t count as a delay.
This appears to no longer be the case as the studio is now giving it a 2022 release instead. When the game was initially announced, it was expected to release sometime in 2021. Even the name Bomb Rush Cyberfunk sounds like something from the Sega Dreamcast era, and it’s sure to appeal to a lot of fans from that generation. The art style, gameplay, and overall presentation made us completely reminisce about Jet Set Radio, which is exactly what Team Reptile wanted. We’re also given an amazing sample of music from Hideki Naganuma, which was more than enough for us to dance to. The new trailer, which is only 33 seconds, gives us a small taste of the awesome foot-grinding that you’ll do with your character, with boosted jet-packs to boot.
